Progress on site update November 2009

The Adamstown Project Team monitors progress on site on a regular basis to ensure that development is taking place in accordance with the details of the planning permissions and compliance submissions.

1. Residential Development

To date permission has been granted for 3428 residential units within the Adamstown SDZ lands under seven separate planning permissions as identified below.

Adamstown Castle Development Area

All of the residential units withinthe Adamstown Castle 1 and Adamstown Castle 2 developmentshave now been completed and the majority of residential units are now occupied.

Work has continued to progress well on the Admstown Castle Landmark (Sentinal site) and the first convenience store has now been opened which is soon to be followed by a cafe scheduled for opening at the end of 2009.

All of the residential units within the ‘Paddocks’ development (Phase 1a) have now been completed and the majority of residential units are now occupied.

Development works has continued to progress well on the second phase of development with the ‘Paddocks’. The first residential units within (Phase 1b) have now been occupied and there are a number of residential units coming towards completion which are expected to be completed and occupied over the coming months.

Adamstown Square Development Area

All of the residential units within Adamstown Square 1 development have now been completed and the majority of residential units are now occupied.

Adamstown Square 2 development consists of a further 262 residential units. Blocks 2 and 3 have now been completed and to date approx half of the residential units within these blocks have been occupied with the remaining units expected to be occupied over the coming months.

Adamstown Castle Public Park

Works within the Public Park located within the Adamstown Castle development have been completed.

Newcastle Rd R120 upgrade works

The associated roadwork’s are now complete both of the new signal controlled junctions along the Newcastle rd, one at the Adamstown Castle junction and one at the Tandy’s Lane junction, are now fully operational.

Adamstown Link Road (ref: SD04/0964)

The Adamstown Link continues to be used as the main access route for all construction traffic accessing the Adamstown Castle development area, helping to remove much of the construction traffic related to the Adamstown Development from the R120 Newcastle Rd.(ref: SDZ04A/2)

The new Adamstown Railway Station and Park & Ride opened in April 2007.

Adamstown Primary School (ref: SDZ06A/2)

Both Primary school buildings, containing 16 classrooms, have been completed and are now fully operational.

Adamstown Creche (SDZ06A/7)

The first crèche facility, Adamstown Castle Creche, has been completed and is currently being operated by Giraffe Childcare.

Adamstown Post Primary School (ref: SDZ07A/0002)

The secondary school building consisting of 63 classrooms, 25 guidance, pastoral, multifunctional rooms and a library has now been completed and is fully operational.

3. Planning Applications

Over the last month South Dublin County Council has received no further planning application for development within Adamstown.
